Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, (DVLA) Ghana, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kwasi Agyeman Busia has emerged Africa Public Sector Magazine’s “CEO of the Week” for the Month of June 12th to 18th, 2022 rankings.
The highly-rated CEO of the Week is a weekly accreditation of Top performing CEOs of Public institutions, MDAs of African governments, following their achievements and portfolios amongst other criteria for the best in performances and developments.
Mr. Kwasi Agyeman Busia was appointed to the position of the CEO in year 2017, a position which has been well managed with excellence and commendable innovations. Mr. Kwasi is a vibrant leader, humble and respected boss with district love for technology. He has greater achievement and climbed greater milestone in his administration of the Authority’s objective.
He has a lovable leadership prowess that is of value. He is a hybrid of a Technocrat, Manager and Strategic planner. The son of the Prime Minister of the Second Republic, constantly seeks the synergy which unifies People, Process and Technology.
Career and Milestones;
- DVLA has made commendable achievements and this has been the result of the authority innovations, efficiency, effectiveness and zeal on delivering utmost service delivery.
- Most recently, the Authority was awarded for their contribution to the HR industry and also awarded for technology adoption and efficient use in its operations, amongst other awards, a total of thirty six (36) awards has been received by DVLA in the last four and a half years, with the Chief Executive adjudging the Public Sector ICT man for four consecutive time thus in, 2018 ( GITTA awards) 2019( CEO of the year-CEO Network, 2020 ( GITTA awards) and Public Sector IT Leadership Award 2021, all well deserved.
- His working experience and career cuts across IT and Business, until his appointment as Chief Executive of DVLA, Mr. Busia was the Information Service manager of Tullow Ghana Ltd. He has also worked as a Programmes Manager and as an Informatics Director for the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) tackling enterprise-wide projects such as the 3.5 billion dollars’ vaccine ordering, forecasting, distribution and tackling application which covered all states and territories of the United State of America.
- Earlier in his career, he worked as project leader at the Bank of America in the area of analysis, design and implementation of Derivative processing for interest Rate Swaps. For 17 years, he pioneered the development of a variety of performance driven and strategic applications of data collection, data analysis and information dissemination at the CDC.
- Mr. Busia is an Alumnus of Prempeh College and obtained his B. A. Degree in English at the University of Ghana, Legon. In 1989 he obtained an MBA in Information Systems and Economics at the University of Dallas Texas.
- Furthermore, he worked for IBM Corporation whiles pursuing his master’s degree as a programmer analyst and in 1991 as a Senior Systems analyst for Meridian Oil, an Oil and Gas exploration company in Fort Worth Texas. Mr. Busia joined the CDC in 1986 and worked his way up the ladder and contributed significantly in the government agency’s realisation of Disease prevention and Health promotion among others.
- For a fact, Mr. Busia is well known for his humility, intellect and his welfare attribute which he took from his dad and has been applied in all facet of his journey.
