Lagos State government has reiterated its commitment to tackle child abuse and other abuses in schools.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, who spoke yesterday during the Children Awareness Initiative Programme organised by Live Abundantly, in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, said the state has an existing child law and an agency in charge of protecting all sorts of abuses to safeguard children in the state.
Adefisayo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji, said the state takes exception for all sorts of abuses, adding that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu takes abuse against any children as an abuse against the state.
Founder of Live Abundantly, Dr. Onyerinma Ama, who identified child abuse, poverty, bullying and insecurity as part of challenges facing children currently, regretted that the children were being stressed as a result of these challenges.
