The Government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has started the second year of his second term in office with new appointments to strategic positions in key state owned agencies.
The NPP government after winning the 2020 presidential election appointed men and women into public offices to help manage the Ghanaian economy and deliver on its campaign promises.
With a full house of ministers and deputies; Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, the government in the final quarter of 2021 named several CEO, Deputy CEO’s and Board Members of state owned institutions, this year the President has continued on that trajectory.
With 14days into the new year, the President has made four of his new appointments’ public.
CEO, National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) – Kofi Ofosu Nkansah

The President recently appointed the Managing Director of the Accra Digital Centre and vociferous New Patriotic Party (NPP) social media communicator, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP).
Mr. Nkansah takes over from John Kumah, who currently serves as a member of Parliament for the Ejisu constituency and deputy ministers for finance.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, a Technology and Innovation professional with 16 years of experience across various industries is expected to build on the achievements from the programme and to introduce new modules which will help reduce Youth unemployment including leading the implementation of the YouStart Programme.
He holds a Computer Science degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, MA in Marketing Strategy from the University of Ghana, A professional Diploma in Marketing from CIM – UK.
As Managing Director of the Accra Digital Centre, Kofi operationalized the Digital Centre and achieved 100% occupancy in two years. Over Fifteen thousand (15, 000) youth were trained in Digital skills, four thousand (4,000) digital and ancillary jobs were created at the Centre and Innovation support is given to 1000s of start-ups under his stewardship.
His innovative and distinct management of the Centre won him the Young CEO of the Year Award at the African Public Sector Conference and Awards in 2019.
His new appointment at NEIP has flooded social media as several congratulatory messages continue to pour in from well-wishers, predominately the youth of the ruling NPP.
Deputy Chief Executive in Charge of Banking/Business, Ghana Exim Bank– Rosemary Beryl Archer

On January 4, a letter from the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare announced the appointment of Rosemary Beryl Archer as the Deputy Chief Executive in Charge of Banking/Business for the Ghana Exim Bank pursuant to the 2016 Ghana Export and Import Bank Act 911.
Prior to her appointment, she was the Head of SME at Exim Bank, she has worked in the banking sector for about 16 years assuming various roles, including roles in Corporate and Institutional Banking, Retail, SME, Business Development, Treasury, Credit and Recoveries, export development from within several local banks including the Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) the Access Bank (formerly Intercontinental Bank) and Fidelity Bank.
An alumnus of the University of Ghana and the University of Bedfordshire in the UK, Rosemary in her role as the head of the SME Banking Department at GEXIM was instrumental in its success, as Head of International Cooperation at GEXIM, Rosemary Archer was key to the completion of MOUs with peer international development banks such as US Exim, India Exim, Indonesia Exim, as well as the Hungary, Thai and Slovenia Exims which occasioned new access to funding and knowledge transfer.
In October 2021 she was sworn in as a member of the nine-member governing board of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA).
She is expected to bring her banking experience and extensive familiarity with the organization and its objectives to bear on this new role, however, news of her appointment was received with mixed reaction from the public as some purports that her appointment was influenced by “political elements” of her spouse.
EOCO Boss – COP Mamee Tiwaa Addo Danquah

Former Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service, COP Mamee Tiwaa Addo Danquah has been appointed to head the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
She commenced work in her new role on Monday, January 10. Mamee was the Director-General Police Professional and Standards Bureau (PPSB) until her new appointment.
Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs) is a law enforcement professional with more than 30 years of experience out of which 15 years have been focused on financial fraud detection and investigation duties at the Police Criminal Investigation Department. She is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Forensic Accountant.
She holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance Option) Degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Mamee has held several roles in the police service, including Ghana Police Hospital Administrator, Divisional Commander, Accra Central Division, Ministries, Accra, Deputy Director-General, Police Intelligence and Professional Standards Bureau, She was the first Commandant of the Ghana Police Command and Staff College, Winneba Deputy Director-General and the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, the First Woman to be appointed to that position since the inception of the CID in 1948.
Some Ghanaians have expressed distaste at her appointment over her handling of a kidnapping case involving three Takoradi girls during her spell as the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department.
Deputy Chief Executive-Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF)–Catherine Kakra Quaidoo

In his most recent appointment, President Akufo-Addo through a letter signed by Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante in line with the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund Act 2014 (Act 877) appointed Madam Catherine Kakra Quaidoo as Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
Madam Quaidoo is a banking and finance professional with nearly thirty years of experience in the sector, cutting across financial services, savings & loans, as well as commercial & development banking.
She has an Executive Master’s in Business Administration (EMBA) from the University of Ghana, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, and a Diploma in Financial Management from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) UK.
It’s clear in the coming weeks more appointments into Ghana’s Public Sector would be announced, so far some of the presidents’ appointees such as the Inspector General of Police have been applauded for their effectiveness in the roles assigned them while others have been described as square peaks in round roles. public sector to be based on a person’s qualifications and abilities and not political affiliations.
