The Federal Government of Nigeria has lauded the Nasarawa State Government for its efforts in curbing insecurity in the state.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha gave the commendation when the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
SGF said the building of the modern bus terminal by the Governor would in no small measure help to address insecurity in the state. In his words:
“It is also a very good instrument of control especially when it comes to issue of insecurity there is a havoc that is been wreaked when people travel without knowing what they are carrying along in those vehicles. But when you have a terminal building where everybody would come in and the security agents and the operators would have the opportunity of looking at what kind of consignment they are transporting and the kind of people that are being moved from one location or another; and that is what happens all over the world there’s a measure of control of how people move around especially in this prevailing situation of insecurity challenges that is confronting the nation, we need such an edifice to be able to handle and control movement of people and make sure that people are secured”
He stated that apart from addressing insecurity, the new bus terminal would go a long way to decongest the highway and ease movement of most of the public sevants and civil servants residing in Nasarawa state.
He also commended the Governor for the synergy between his government and the security agencies in that state which has yielded positive results in addressing some security challenges in the state.
Speaking earlier, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule said the purpose of his visit was to felicitate with SGF on the occasion of his 65th birthday celebration and to also wish him strength and God’s guidance in the discharge of his statutory obligation.
The Governor used the occasion to abreast the SGF on the efforts been made by the Government of Nasarawa State to ease movement of people along Masaka- Nyanya route with the construction of Karu Mega Bus Terminal. He also appreciated the Federal Government for the ongoing expansion of the Abuja- Keffi Road and the dualisation of Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi Road which would also stem road traffic in the state.
He thanked the Federal Government for its timely military intervention in tackling insecurity in the state and promised to collaborate with the security agencies to forestall any reoccurrence of insecurity in the state.
