The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated equipment worth Sh3.5 million to Busia County through Afya Ugavi with a view to improve service delivery in the health sector.
The equipment including a vehicle, two laptops, a printer and four chairs were delivered to the health department by Afya Ugavi Chief of Party James Mwenda at Busia County Referral hospital.
Mwenda said the Organization has in the past five years supported the County to the tune of Sh30 million in terms of capacity building and provision of equipment.
“Busia is one of the two counties that has been supported by our team,” he said adding that Homabay County also received a vehicle from the organization yesterday.
Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi received the equipment, thanked the organization for supporting the Supply chain department within the health sector. “The organization has also helped in training staff within the Health Products and Technologies Unit (HPT),” he said.
“They have also given us a dash board which can provide information from all the public health facilities across the County,” he said.
He at the same time urged the frontline workers including teachers, healthcare providers and security officers to come out and be vaccinated against Covid 19.
The DG further stated that local residents will be inoculated at various Sub County hospitals, Health Centres and Dispensaries once the National government avails more vaccines.
