The President of Liberia, George Opong Weah has challenged Liberians to pray for God’s breakthrough for the economy.
The President is seeking an all-night prayer section by the citizens across the country on last Fridays of every month, so that God will bless the President and his appointees, urging Liberians to pray for two hours every day.
He also asked God to bless the people of Liberia in these difficult times of the economy.
According to the President’s Religious advisor, Rev M Emmanuel Nimely, the prayers will heal the country’s “infrastructure and economy development drives”
Mr. Nimely’s statement on the economy prompted some people to call in to a radio show to share their views.
One caller told the Costa Show, on radio in Monrovia the capital of Liberia that: “Our leaders are evil, so prayers will not help us.”
Ousman Bility, a caller explained “We can go to churches, mosque and pray, we can take the next hundred years to pray, it won’t work”.
Host of the program Henry P stated that, some countries including United States of America, china, Japan and Germany are not industralised by prayers. These countries have good mechanisms in place.
The third caller who lives in the Doe Community, a low class neighborhood close to Port of Monrovia, supported the view of the president and his religious advisor, he said, prayers will let the country move forward and will lift the country from it difficult economic situation.
