At the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, Ghana’s delegation actively took part in a high-level side event hosted by the African Union at the AU Permanent Mission Conference Hall.
The event centered on the critical theme of ‘Gender Financing for Ending Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices.’
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection of Ghana announced this in statement released on Sunday 17th March, 2024.
During the session, panelists engaged in discussions focusing on key interventions and shared experiences regarding effective gender financing mechanisms aimed at safeguarding children from various forms of violence, including gender-based violence (GBV), harmful practices, online exploitation, and abuse.
“Moreover, the dialogue delved into the importance of strengthening legislation related to gender-based violence and emphasized the need for robust data collection methodologies to inform evidence-based programming and policy formulation.
This comprehensive approach highlights Ghana’s dedication, alongside other stakeholders, to address the multifaceted challenges posed by gender-based violence and harmful practices through coordinated efforts and innovative strategies,” the statement read.
