Botswana’s Vice President Mr. Ndaba Gaolathe, has announced that the government will soon implement a comprehensive startup programme aimed at empowering youth-led enterprises in Botswana.
The initiative will include startup grants, incubation centres, and a 30 per cent government procurement quota specifically reserved for youth-driven businesses.
Speaking at the Dreamers Exchange Festival held at the Game City Rooftop, Mr. Gaolathe said the event exemplified the readiness of Botswana’s youth to take charge of the nation’s future. “This festival is a testament that the youth are not just waiting to be empowered—they are ready to lead,” he said.

He further reflected on the visionary leadership of Botswana’s founding figures—Sir Seretse Khama, Sir Ketumile Masire, Motsamai Mpho, and Dr. Kenneth Koma—who envisioned a free and prosperous nation. That same spirit, he noted, now lives in young filmmakers, fashion designers, writers, musicians, coders, and entrepreneurs.
Themed “Step Into the Dream,” the festival was attended by Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs Ms. Lesego Chombo, Hollywood actress Meagan Good, singer La’Myia Good, producer Dijon Talton, and several South African actors and film producers.
