The Ivorian government in collaboration with the European Union (EU) has officially launched a workshop in Grand-Bassam for the third-generation Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), in a bid to mitigate the effects of climate change on public health.
It was noted that the EU is implementing its Global Gateway strategy, which aims to establish strong and resilient international partnerships in the fight against climate change is part of the Low Carbon Transition project, implemented by Expertise France and funded by the European Union (EU) with an investment of 3.8 billion FCFA,

According to the Parfait Kouadio, Chief of Staff of the Minister of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition, the workshop is aimed at intensifying the actions of the Ivorian government to reduce climate-related pollution.

It should be recalled that the first version of the NDCs set a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target of 28.45%, revised to 30.41% in version 2.0, he announced that with NDC 3.0, the bar will be raised further, in line with Côte d’Ivoire’s international commitments.
Also speaking at the workshop, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative, Blerta Cela, stated that the revision of NDC 3.0 presents a strategic opportunity to meaningfully contribute to both the National Development Plan 2026–2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“we are proud to be partners in this dynamic,” she said. Cela added that the UNDP will provide a team of experts to support the consolidation of the results from the working groups, and together build a solid narrative to carry the Ivorian climate vision to 2030 and beyond.
