The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has thrown its support behind Nigeria’s Single Window Trade Project, a key initiative aimed at streamlining trade processes, boosting government revenue, and improving the ease of doing business.
A delegation from the IMF Fiscal Affairs Department, led by Marco Antonio, Technical Assistance Advisor for Revenue Administration 2, met with Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, to discuss the progress and implementation of the project.
Antonio commended the National Single Window (NSW) initiative, recognizing it as a critical step in Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms. He also explored ways in which the IMF could further support the project to ensure its successful execution.

Minister Edun assured the delegation that the initiative is firmly on track, with necessary approvals secured, a dedicated team in place, and a well-structured implementation plan. He emphasized that the NSW project would play a crucial role in driving export growth, particularly as Nigeria targets 1.2 million barrels of daily oil production.
Describing the initiative as a transformative tool for economic development, Edun reaffirmed the government’s commitment to its success. He highlighted the strategic leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the backing of the Nigeria Customs Service as essential pillars for the project’s implementation.
