President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, a former Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, as the National Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
Vanderpuye’s appointment places him at the forefront of efforts to enhance road infrastructure across Ghana, a crucial aspect of national development. The DRIP initiative, launched in July 2024 by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, aims to improve road networks across all 275 constituencies.
The program will equip Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with essential resources and machinery to facilitate effective road maintenance and construction. A key objective of DRIP is to decentralize infrastructure development, empowering local authorities to execute road projects efficiently and with greater accountability.

Vanderpuye, known for his advocacy for transparency in government-led infrastructure projects, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He previously served as Minister of Youth and Sports and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry under a past Mahama administration.
As National Coordinator, he is expected to oversee the implementation of DRIP, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the program’s success in addressing Ghana’s road infrastructure challenges.
