President John Dramani Mahama has announced his ministerial appointments, naming key figures to lead various government ministries in his administration. The list includes experienced politicians and technocrats tasked with driving national development across multiple sectors.
The Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who addressed journalists after the meeting, stated that the session served as an introduction for cabinet members and an opportunity to outline their roles and expectations.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, MP, has been appointed as Minister for Finance, while Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, MP, takes charge as Minister for the Interior. The Ministry of Health will be headed by Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, MP, and Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has been named Minister for Defence.
Legal affairs will be overseen by Dr. Dominic Akuritinga, MP, as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, while John Abdulai Jinapor, MP, will lead the government’s energy transition efforts as Minister for Energy and Green Transition.
Haruna Iddrisu, MP, has been appointed as Minister for Education, with Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, MP, heading the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP, has been named Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP, takes over as Minister for Foreign Affairs.
In the agricultural sector, Eric Opoku, MP, will serve as Minister for Food and Agriculture. Digital innovation and technology development will be spearheaded by Samuel Nartey George, MP, as Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.
Infrastructure development remains a priority, with Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP, appointed as Minister of Roads and Highways, Adjei Kenneth Gilbert as Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, MP, as Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology.

Local governance and social affairs are also well represented in the appointments, with Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, named Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, and Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, MP, taking on the role of Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

Joseph Bukari Nikpe, MP, has been appointed as Minister for Transport, while Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo, MP, will oversee employment and labor matters as Minister of Labour, Jobs, and Employment.
The appointments reflect President Mahama’s commitment to a government that prioritizes economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare. The newly appointed ministers are expected to bring their expertise and leadership to drive progress in their respective ministries.
n addition to the cabinet ministers, several other key government officials were present at the meeting. Among them was Kofi Adams, who serves as the Minister for Sports & Recreation, alongside George Opare Addo, the Minister for Youth Development & Empowerment. Also in attendance was Emelia Arthur, the Minister for Fisheries & Aquaculture, and Abla Dzifa Gomashi, who holds the position of Minister for Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to fostering development across various sectors.
