President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Google CEO Sundar Pichai for the company’s commitment to advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation in Nigeria.
During a meeting in Paris, President Tinubu, accompanied by Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, engaged in discussions with a Google delegation to explore a strategic partnership to accelerate Nigeria’s technological growth.
The discussions centered on initiatives to expand digital infrastructure, enhance AI-driven research and innovation, promote cloud adoption across industries, and equip the Nigerian workforce with essential digital skills. The collaboration seeks to position Nigeria as a leading technology hub, leveraging AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure to drive economic growth and global competitiveness.
President Tinubu emphasized that the partnership aligns with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic diversification through industrialization, technology, and innovation. The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy will oversee the initiative, while the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) will coordinate efforts with the private sector to maximize impact.

At the meeting, Google CEO Sundar Pichai reaffirmed the company’s dedication to Nigeria’s digital transformation. “Nigeria has an incredible opportunity to lead in AI and digital innovation in Africa.
