Former Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for his impressive performance during his first month in office. Speaking to newsmen at his residence in Iyamho, Estako West Local Government Area, Oshiomhole highlighted the governor’s swift and effective approach to governance.
Oshiomhole expressed satisfaction with Governor Okpebholo’s pragmatic leadership, noting that Edo people are now experiencing true and practical governance after eight years of what he described as rhetoric and MOUs under the previous administration. He commended the governor for making appointments from his first day in office and for making significant decisions within a short period.
“Everyone in Edo is a witness to the fact that the Governor from day one kicked the ground running, appointing people into critical positions so that those sectors do not lack. For example, Justice, Health, and SUBEB, because the issue of basic education is very dear to his heart and you cannot suspend it for a few minutes,” Oshiomhole said.
The former governor also lauded Governor Okpebholo’s efforts in addressing infrastructural development, stating that Edo people are already feeling the impact of his administration. Contractors have been mobilized back to sites, addressing critical areas to bring relief to the people.
“In addition, he has mobilized contractors back to site, carrying out appropriate surveys to ensure that his commitment to infrastructure starts immediately. People already know that there is a new Sheriff in town. He is stopping all the bad guys and stopping the bleeding that Edo was going through,” Oshiomhole added.
Governor Okpebholo, in his remarks, assured that Edo people would witness more positive developments in 2025. With a new budget and credible appointments, critical sectors of the economy are set to receive the needed boosts.
The governor recently made headlines for appointing members of his cabinet, inaugurating board members, and flagging off major road construction projects within a few hours of assuming office. This proactive approach has set a new record in the history of governance in Edo State.
