Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has announced that the results for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will be released in January 2025. While marking is in its final stages, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is focused on completing the grading process to ensure accurate results.
This year, over 960,000 candidates participated in the national exams held from October 22 to November 22 across 10,755 centres in the country. Speaking during Kabete National Polytechnic’s fifth graduation ceremony on December 12, CS Ogamba emphasized that the marking process is ongoing, and while a specific release date has not been set, results are expected in January.
“We are in the marking stage, and once it is complete, the results will be released. While I can’t give an exact date, candidates can expect them in January,” Ogamba said.
Despite efforts to maintain exam integrity, 621 candidates were implicated in malpractice this year. Cases involved possession of unauthorized materials, use of mobile phones, and collusion with non-candidates. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is pursuing additional cases, including the arrest of a man suspected of running a Telegram group that leaked exam papers.
The Ministry of Education remains committed to ensuring fairness and accuracy in the KCSE process. With fewer cases of malpractice compared to previous years, the focus remains on delivering credible results to all candidates.
