The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued an urgent advisory, calling on all Ghanaian nationals in Lebanon to leave the country as soon as possible.
The warning follows a sharp deterioration in the security situation in Lebanon, exacerbated by ongoing tensions and conflict in the region.
The Ministry expressed deep concern over the safety of Ghanaians, stating that the crisis could pose an immediate threat to their well-being.
“The rapidly unfolding crisis in Lebanon and its potential danger to Ghanaians living in that country, is a matter of great concern to the Government of Ghana,” the Ministry noted in its statement. It emphasized the importance of swift action, urging citizens to take advantage of the limited available flights in Lebanon to depart the country without delay.
This advisory aligns with similar warnings from other nations, including the United Kingdom and the United States, both of which have cautioned their citizens to leave Lebanon amid heightened security risks.
For Ghanaians lacking travel documents, the Ministry has advised contacting the Ghana Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, or the Ghana Honorary Consulate in Beirut to obtain Emergency Travel Certificates.
The government’s warning comes as international concern grows over the escalating violence in Lebanon, with various governments urging their citizens to avoid travel and evacuate areas of conflict.
