Following the conclusion of the 2024 Global Conference on the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI), Honourable Fatimatu Abubakar, Ghana’s Minister for Information, led a distinguished delegation on a guided tour of Accra’s historic and cultural sites.
The tour, which included fellow ministers and international dignitaries, was aimed at highlighting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and its strides in tourism development.
The delegation made key visits to the Kwame Nkrumah Museum and the Museum of the Monument Board, two iconic landmarks that preserve the country’s historical narrative.
“Access to historical information is not just a right, but a tool for understanding who we are as a people,” Hon. Abubakar emphasized during the tour. She reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s heritage for future generations, stressing that preserving these cultural assets was vital to the country’s identity.
The tour, according to Hon. Abubakar, aligns with efforts to boost tourism by promoting Ghana’s cultural wealth to international visitors.
“This is a chance for us to showcase the prowess of our tourism sector while exposing the world to the essence of our history and traditions,” she added.
The event capped a successful IDUAI conference in Accra, which brought together global leaders to discuss the importance of universal access to information.
