The Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) has successfully concluded a week-long Aviation Risk Management training program, culminating in a certificate awarding ceremony for twenty Senior Aviation Security Officers.
The training, which began on September 23, 2024, aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the participants in managing aviation security risks across the country’s international airports.
Facilitators from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at the U.S. Embassy’s Department of Homeland Security expressed their satisfaction with the collaboration during the training sessions.
They noted the valuable expertise shared by the senior security personnel from all four international airports.
“This training is crucial for fostering a safer aviation environment, and we are pleased with the engagement and enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants,” said a TSA representative.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Isaac Mabote, the Director of Airport Services, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the U.S. Embassy for its unwavering support of Botswana’s aviation sector.
“The commitment to capacity development for our senior aviation security officers is commendable, and we are grateful for the opportunity to enhance our skills at no cost to us,” Mabote stated, emphasizing the importance of such training for the safety and security of air travel in the region.
