The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has confirmed a severe disruption in water supply across eastern Greater Accra, including key areas like Dodowa, Osu, and Madina.
This critical issue, which began on Sunday, August 25, 2024, was triggered by a major burst in the transmission line linking the Kpong Treatment Plant to the Dodowa Booster Station.
As a result, residents in neighborhoods such as Oyibi, Adenta, and Legon are facing significant water shortages.
GWCL engineers are working relentlessly to address the problem, but have encountered additional challenges on the same transmission line following initial repairs.
According to the Communications Manager, Stanley Martey, the company is currently replacing weakened sections of the pipeline, with a targeted completion date set for Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
In the meantime, residents are advised to conserve water to alleviate the impact of the shortage.
To mitigate the effects of the disruption, GWCL has arranged for water distribution through tankers to essential service providers, including hospitals and schools.
The company extends its apologies for the inconvenience and urges the public to remain patient as efforts to restore normal water supply continue.
