Abubakar Dantsoho, the newly appointed managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has pledged to prioritize the rehabilitation of dilapidated port infrastructure nationwide.
During an unscheduled visit to Tin-Can Island Port (TCIP), Dantsoho emphasized his commitment to collaborating with port stakeholders to enhance service efficiency at the nation’s seaports.
He highlighted the importance of adequate port infrastructure and robust stakeholder collaboration to improve revenue generation through increased efficiency and productivity.
Speaking with journalists, Dantsoho revealed that President Bola Tinubu has tasked the Authority with delivering efficient port services and better industry outcomes.
“With the backing of Adegboyega Oyetola, minister of Marine and Blue Economy, I assure stakeholders that the much-talked-about reconstruction of Tin-Can Ports Complex will move from rhetoric to action,” he said.
He also stressed that port competitiveness relies on sound infrastructure, assuring that the NPA will meet this need to better serve Nigeria’s domestic cargo needs and those of landlocked neighboring nations. Dantsoho brings over 25 years of hands-on operational experience to his new role.
