The Murtala Muhammed Area Command, under the leadership of Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe, has reported a remarkable increase in revenue collection for the first half of 2024.
The Command collected a total of N80.35 billion in customs duty and other charges from January to June, reflecting a 107.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
This impressive feat, attributed to Comptroller Awe’s strategic initiatives, underscores the Command’s commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and reducing cargo clearance time in line with World Customs best practices.
In addition to revenue generation, the Command also recorded exports worth N266.65 million with a Free on Board (FOB) value of $204,597.07.
Comptroller Awe reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to sustaining and improving revenue collection in the second half of the year.
He commended the officers and stakeholders for their cooperation and dedication, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and ensure ease of business.
Comptroller Awe also expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the press for their continued support and objective reporting.
