The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has inaugurated its first regional office in Kumasi, marking a significant milestone in its history.
This move underscores GPCL’s commitment to decentralizing operations and enhancing accessibility to essential publishing services nationwide.
The grand opening was attended by the Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, who served as the Special Guest of Honour. In her address, she highlighted GPCL’s decades-long journey and historical significance.
The Minister noted that the inauguration of the Kumasi office symbolizes the company’s revival and its dedication to restoring its former glory, emphasizing that the new office represents a monumental step forward in reclaiming and advancing GPCL’s esteemed legacy.
Minister Abubakar reflected on GPCL’s rich history, including the establishment of presses in Tema, Tamale, Victoriaborg, and Takoradi, with sales points in all regional capitals. She praised the Kumasi office’s inauguration as a sign of the company’s resurgence, attributing GPCL’s recent success to prudent and efficient management under the current administration.
She extended her appreciation to the GPCL Board, led by Dr. Daniel Owusu-Ansah, and the management team under David Boateng Asante, for their leadership and governance.
The new Kumasi branch is expected to positively impact the Ashanti Region and its adjoining areas by creating jobs, fostering local partnerships, and providing timely access to crucial information and publications.
This expansion demonstrates GPCL’s practical step towards decentralization, bringing essential services closer to the people and empowering the local population with enhanced transparency and informed decision-making.
