The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has issued an apology following a disruption in the check-in systems at Terminal 3 of Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
The incident, which began at approximately 7:51 PM and lasted for about an hour, was caused by a fibre optic system failure due to ongoing excavation works by the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) along the fibre path of Telecel Ghana Limited between Cantonments and Teshie Nungua.
This disruption led to delays in passenger processing and airline turnaround times.
Contrary to speculation, GACL clarified that the disruption was not related to a power outage. Passengers were kept informed through regular announcements, and the situation was managed with a backup internet service, allowing flights to eventually depart.
GACL’s management has extended sincere apologies to all affected passengers and reaffirmed their commitment to providing seamless services across all airports they operate.
