The Ogun ll Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded an increase in revenue generation for the first half of 2024, achieving a total of N12,830,493,630.06.
This figure was announced by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Olusola Bisi, Alade, during a press briefing held in Abeokuta on Friday, July 5, 2024.
Comptroller Bisi emphasized that this amount represents a 51% increase compared to the N8,505,038,818.30 generated in the same period last year.
Comptroller Bisi attributed this success to the diligence, professionalism, and commitment of the officers and men of the Ogun ll Area Command.
He highlighted the command’s core mandate of revenue generation, facilitation of legitimate trade, and protection of national economic security.
Bisi also noted the significant impact of activities in the free trade zones, with substantial revenue collections in April, May, and June contributing to the overall achievement.
The command’s strategic measures and continued support from other units according to the Controller were pivotal in this impressive performance.
Comptroller Bisi commended the leadership of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his visionary approach, which has fostered consolidation, collaboration, and innovation within the service.
He also acknowledged the cooperation of various factories and traders, urging them to maintain timely payment of excise duties and other charges.
