The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Lagos Branch has ordered all workers under the employ of the Lagos State Government to join labor strike this week.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had declared a nationwide strike over minimum wage and, hike in electricity tariff beginning from today, June 3.
Following a statement issued by the ASCSN over the weekend and signed by the Secretary, Aladetan Abiodun, said no civil servant should come to work on Monday and must join the strike.
The statement said the action is to press home the demands of the workers, saying that all members were to comply with this directive.
The statement reads: “Against the backdrop of the directive given by the National Body of our great Union and the leadership of both the NLC and TUC, all members are directed to proceed on strike commencing from today.
“This action is to press our demands for the reversal of the hike in electricity tariff and the conclusion of the ongoing discussion on a new National Minimum Wage.
“All members are to comply with this directive. Additionally, the monitoring team of the NLC and TUC will be on the ground to ensure compliance.
