The Centre Bank of Sierra Leone has approved the appointment of Mohamed Alhajie Samoura as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UBA Sierra Leone.
The Central Banks endorsement was secured officially on January 30, 2024.
Samoura, the first Sierra Leonean to lead UBA’s local subsidiary since 2008, has transformed the institution during his acting tenure, doubling key metrics and receiving acclaim from industry awards.
His leadership signifies a strategic move by the UBA Group to localize governance across its 20-country network, reinforcing a commitment to human capital development and global best practices.
In his almost two decades in the Sierra Leone banking sector, Samoura has proven himself as a highly accomplished banker, recognized among the 100 Most Outstanding Executives in Sierra Leone and a Top 5 Financial Leader.
With a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science coupled with an MBA in Marketing, Samoura’s vision aligns with UBA’s commitment to advancing financial inclusion and cutting-edge technology across Africa.
