Opoku Ahweneeh Danquah, the CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), has extended a lifeline to Osman Zulqarnain, a brilliant graduate of Mfantsipim Senior High School who achieved a remarkable 8As in this year’s WASSCE.
Osman’s inspiring story, noticed by his resilience in working as a mechanic to finance his secondary education, touched the heart of the GNPC CEO.
In a meeting at his office in Accra, Opoku Danquah announced a full scholarship package for the 18-year-old, removing the financial impediment that stood between Osman and his dream of studying medicine at the university.
Addressing Osman and his guardians, Opoku Danquah expressed admiration for Osman’s remarkable journey and emphasized how it resonates with GNPC’s mission to support Ghana’s brightest minds facing financial challenges.
He encouraged Osman not to see this as the culmination but as a stepping stone, urging him to aspire to be the best medical student as he embarks on his higher education journey.
Drawing inspiration from the life of Dr. Ben Carson, the GNPC CEO advised Osman against complacency, reminding him of the focus required to achieve his goal of becoming a neurosurgeon.
The meeting also witnessed the presence of Dr. Dominic Eduah, the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, who reiterated the Corporation’s steadfast commitment to ensuring Osman’s seamless admission into medical school with all necessary support provided.
