Lagos State Government, acting through the Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has sealed a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and seven hotels on Tuesday.
The affected establishments include Infinity Westabul Hotel and Suites, De-Orange Place Lounge and Event, Hollysee Hotel and Suites, B & S Hotel and Suites, INN Hotel and Suites, Bellevouge Lodge and Bar, and 924 Hotel and Suites.
These properties, located in various areas such as Katangua, Ifako Ijaiye, Oko Oba, Agege, Baruwa, Iyana Ipaja, and Dopemu in Lagos State, were found to be in violation of environmental regulations.
In an official statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, LASEPA emphasized its commitment to protecting the environment from pollution and degradation.
The government’s decisive measures reflect a dedication to maintaining a healthy and sustainable living environment for residents.
The closure of these establishments serves as a stern warning to businesses and religious institutions to adhere to environmental guidelines, ensuring a harmonious coexistence with the community.
The statement urged the public to support these measures for the overall well-being of the society.
The statement read: “Today, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), as part of its mandate of protecting the environment from pollution and any other form of environmental degradation, took strong action by sealing some establishments, including hotels, an event centre, and a church.
“These establishments, such as Infinity Westabul Hotel & Suites, De-Orange Place Lounge & Event, Hollysee Hotel & Suites, B & S Hotel & Suites, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, INN Hotel & Suites, Bellevouge Lodge & Bar, and 924 Hotel & Suites, located at Katangua, Ifako Ijaiye, Oko Oba, Agege, Baruwa, Iyana Ipaja, and Dopemu in Lagos State.
“These measures were put in place to address the identified instances of noise pollution and other environmental transgressions.”
