The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation has sponsored the training of 400 people through the Aseda Foundation.
Under the Education and Training Module, the GNPC Foundation, led by Executive Director Dr. Dominic Kwasi Eduah, has been instrumental in providing vocational training to individuals who may not have pursued traditional academic paths.
Since its establishment in 2018, the Foundation has successfully trained approximately 7,700 Ghanaian students, with 1,500 beneficiaries receiving training nationwide this year alone.
Dr. Eduah emphasized that the focus of the program is to equip individuals who may have faced challenges in pursuing formal education to excel in the informal sector.
Despite its success, the initiative faces a hurdle as some participants express reluctance towards the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) examinations, which are essential for certification.
Dr. Eduah clarified that these exams are designed to assess practical skills, emphasizing their importance for NVTI certification and future success in the workforce.
The training initiative received words of encouragement from Central Regional Minister Justina Marigold Assan and Diana Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of the Aseda Foundation, who urged beneficiaries to utilize their newly acquired skills for personal and national development.
