The Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has launched an investigation into allegations of potential examination malpractice surrounding the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) Science Double Award Paper 3 and English Paper 1.
These claims began to circulate on various social media platforms, casting a shadow of doubt on the integrity of these examination papers.
To address these concerns, BEC has issued a press release assuring the public that they are treating these allegations with utmost seriousness.
As a precautionary measure, BEC has decided to postpone the English Paper 1, originally scheduled for October 16.
The council has also pledged to keep the public informed regarding the outcome of the investigation into the Double Science Award, which was administered on October 5.
In their press release, BEC appeals to the public for calm and urges candidates to stay focused on their examinations, delivering their best performance despite the ongoing investigations.
The examinations council emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the interests of candidates while maintaining the integrity and credibility of its qualifications.
“Whilst the investigations are still ongoing the council appeals to the public to remain calm and for the candidates to remain focused on their examinations and field their best performance,” says the release.
