The Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Airways, Allan Kilavuka as emerged the Public Sector Global ‘CEO of the week’. He is our CEO of the week for July 30th to 5th August, 2023.
Allan Kilavuka is a Kenyan businessman and corporate executive, who has served as the chief executive officer of Kenya Airways, the national airline of Kenya, since 1st April 2020.
His experience in leadership and management spans over two decades. Coupled with an extensive knowledge of the African business environment, Allan has a proven track record of new organization set ups, change management, financial planning, integrations, process improvement and company compliance and responsible strategic leadership.
In June 2023, he led to the introduction of an advanced flight communication service aimed at enhancing real-time customer communication in the event of flight schedule changes in June 2023.
His administration also led the renewal of Kenya Airways PLC (KQ) and China Southern Airlines (CZ) interline agreement on the return of international travel to/from China.
The agreement assists in restoring connectivity for both airlines’ passengers to points on the respective carriers’ networks via Nairobi, Guangzhou and Shanghai using a single ticket and one baggage policy.
The reciprocal agreement enhances the connectivity options that KQ offers to its passengers through access to domestic China destinations operated by China Southern such as Shanghai, Chongqing, Changsha, Chengdu, Dalian, Fuzhou, Hefei, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Kunming, Guiyang, Ningbo, Nanjing, Nanning, Shenyang, Shantou, Sanya, Qingdao, Jinan, Tianjin among others.
In May 2023, Allan Kilavuka led Kenya Airways become the first African airline to use SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) provided by Eni for a long-haul flight. KQ will be participating in the second edition of the Sustainable Flight Challenge (TSFC), an initiative of SkyTeam. The initiative is a friendly competition between SkyTeam member airlines.
