Nigeria aims to generate $5 billion from outsourcing and IT-enabled export services by 2024, according to Dr. Ezra Yakusak, the Executive Director/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). The country’s focus on the outsourcing industry is expected to boost human capital, drive the economy, and promote emerging technologies.
The NEPC has been working on initiatives to identify and highlight exportable services in sectors such as finance, ICT, entertainment, and education. The council believes that trade in services will play a crucial role in the diversification of Nigeria’s export base, foreign exchange generation, and job creation.
A recent football talent hunt organized by the NEPC resulted in three players being signed to a club in Latvia, as part of the Council’s Export4Survival campaign. The country’s potential in the services sector, especially in outsourcing and information technology-enabled services, is seen as a pathway to economic growth and technological advancement.
