President Samia Suluhu Hassan in a mini -cabinet reshuffle has therefore resulted in the dissolution of two ministries and the formation of three new dockets.
The Ministry of Finance and Planning has been split, with the finance mandate remaining under the newly named Ministry of Finance.
The planning responsibilities have been separated to create the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Under these changes, Mwigulu Nchemba has been appointed as the Finance Minister, while Prof. Kitila Mkumbo will serve as the Minister of Planning and Investment.
Furthermore, Lawrence Mafuru has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National Planning Commission.
The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade has been renamed the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the investment portfolio falling under the purview of the new Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The former overseer of the Ministry, Dr Ashatu Kijaji has been appointed as the Minister of Industry and Trade.
This restructuring is a strategic step by the government to enhance investment processes in Tanzania, with the Ministry of Planning and Investment now operating under the President’s Office.
