The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that they will release the revised petroleum prices on 30th June 2023, in accordance with the newly enacted finance bill.
H.E. the President Dr. William Ruto on June 26, 2023 signed into law the Finance Bill, 2023, implementing a 16 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products.
The move is expected to impact the prices of gasoline, diesel, and other petroleum-based fuels.
Furthermore, the Authority has emphasized the importance of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional cooking fuels.

They highlighted that LPG is one of the cleanest sources of cooking fuel and suggested it as a suitable option to replace biomass.
The Authority also issued a safety advisory, urging the public not to attempt repairing or fixing LPG accessories independently in case of malfunction. Instead, they advised reaching out to a licensed LPG retailer at the point of purchase for assistance.
This cautionary measure aims to reduce accidents resulting from faulty cylinders, often associated with illegal refilling activities.
