The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Enugu State government have announced a partnership to complete and activate the international wing of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.
They also plan to construct a cargo terminal to enhance the state’s and nation’s economy and tourism industry. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FAAN, Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, and the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, expressed their commitment to realizing these projects during a joint visit to the airport.
The FAAN boss praised the governor’s dedication and urgency in making the terminals operational. Dr. Mbah emphasized the importance of the cargo terminal for export activities related to agriculture and agro-allied industries in the state.
He also highlighted the significance of the international terminal for attracting tourists and stimulating economic growth. Funding strategies will be explored, and both parties aim to establish a timeline for the prompt completion of the projects.
