President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended his congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye, following his successful re-election.
The presidential and parliamentary elections in Türkiye took place on 14 May 2023, culminating in a runoff for the presidential race on Sunday, 28 May 2023, where President Erdoğan emerged victorious.
President Ramaphosa expressed South Africa’s looking forward to collaborate with Türkiye under President Erdoğan’s leadership, aiming to strengthen the existing robust bilateral and multilateral ties between the two nations.

The formal diplomatic relations between South Africa and Türkiye were officially established in 1991.
Both countries actively engage in shared multilateral platforms like the G20, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and various United Nations organs, given their common membership.
