The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it is still committed to according to data security priority attention to enhance economic growth.
Its Registrar-General, Alhaji Garba Abubakar says the CAC, as a huge data reservoir, will continue to partner with the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau to ensure the development of the economy.
CAC’s spokesman, Mr Rasheed Mahe, stated in Abuja that Abubakar gave the assurance when he hosted Dr Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the bureau, who visited him.
He assured also that CAC’s reform initiatives relating to data protection would ensure that it continued to abide by the provisions of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation Act (2019) in its operations.
Earlier, Dr Olatunji said he visited the CAC as part of efforts to enhance its operations as a data reservoir serving Nigerians and the international community.
He lauded CAC’s reform initiatives and commended the corporation for operating a real-time website.
He charged the CAC to ensure that it maintained the tempo in accordance with the provisions of the 2019 Act.
The Act was issued in January 2019. It is the current national law on data protection and applies to the public and private sectors.
It aims at protecting the right to privacy, creating the right environment for digital transactions, job creation and improving information management practices.
