The Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources Dr. Gerardine Mukeshimana presided over a handover ceremony between the outgoing and incoming Board of Directors of the National Agricultural Export Development Board.
The Minister said that the mandate of the Board of Directors is to serve the Institution’s mission through its special status: “You did a great work over the last two years, and we value a lot the accomplishment of turning NAEB into a public commercial institution.”
In her welcome remarks, Hon. Dr. Mukeshimana added that NAEB is a gigantic organization that needs much support from the right Board members, who she thinks they are. “The government’s expectations of you are high and you have the potential to maximize your impact.” She added.
The CEO of NAEB. Amb. George William Kayonga thanked the two outgoing members of the Board who served from February 2016 to November 2017. He said: “Mr. Hategakimana Cyrille and Ms. Matama Ngabo Claraitte have been really passionate in contributing to the success of our institution. We are very proud of their work and we wish them well in their responsibilities.”
Dr. Jean Chrysostome Ngabitsinze, the former and new Chairman of the Board of Directors thanked the Minister and NAEB’s management for having valued the outgoing Board’s accomplishments and for organizing such a farewell ceremony for them while receiving the incoming one.
“I thank NAEB’s management for the facilitation they provided in the last mandate. We worked as a team and we will be keen to learn more from this given opportunity. I am also thankful to the Cabinet for the trust they have in me and my colleagues, and we pledge more collaboration with the institution for more success. “
This new Board of Directors composed by seven members was appointed by the Government Cabinet on 08th November 2017. The two new members are Rugema Joshua, Vice Chairman of the Board and Isugi Marie Chantal.
